"Attempts to find any differences between us and China on this issue [Syrian crisis] are inconclusive. Attempts to play China off against us have been made not for the first time," Antonov said when commenting on the claims by French diplomats that Russia has lost China's support on the Syrian issue.
Syria has been mired in civil war since 2011, with opposition factions and Islamist terrorist groups such as Daesh and the al-Qaeda linked Nusra Front, now known as Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, fighting the Syrian army. Both organization are banned in many countries worldwide, including Russia.
Russia has been conducting an anti-terror campaign in the Arab country since September 2015 at Syrian President Bashar Assad's request.
