"Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, who is now in Lausanne (Switzerland) to attend the meeting [on Syria], met and held talks with Foreign Minister [of Iraq] Ibrahim Jaafari," the ministry's statement said.
Multilateral meeting on Syria crisis settlement started on Saturday in the Swiss city of Lausanne. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, US State Secretary John Kerry, UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura, as well as foreign ministers of Qatar, Iraq, Iran, Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Egypt participate in the meeting.
The ongoing conflict in Syria has lasted for about five years. Since its beginning it has claimed the lives of thousands of people and displaced millions more. The international community has undertaken steps to end the Syrian conflict and to solve the humanitarian crisis in the country.
