PARIS (Sputnik) – Reporters Without Borders (RSF), a group defending the freedom of the press, is going to see how the situation unfolds around the decision of UK’s National Westminster Bank (NatWest) to close RT news channel accounts in the country, RSF’s Eastern Europe and Central Asia desk chief said Tuesday.
"We are closely following this matter, but we currently have no comment on this. We will assess the situation once NatWest definitively closes RT accounts," Johann Bihr told RIA Novosti.
RT's Editor-in-Chief Margarita Simonyan said Monday that the international broadcaster's accounts had been blocked in the United Kingdom. RT UK said it had been informed by NatWest, a large state-owned retailer, that its banking arrangements with RT were null and void.
