“Czech police carried out a successful joint operation with the US Federal Bureu of Investigation. This time the objective of the police was a Russian national, suspected of committing hacker attacks on targets in the United States,” the police said, stressing that the alleged hacker was detained in 12 hours thanks to the rapid exchange of information with the United States.
According to the statement, the Czech judiciary will take the decision on extradition of the hacker to the United State.
Soon after the alleged hacker was detained in a hotel in Prague, he fainted and was hospitalized. The Municipal Court in Prague issued a decision on the man’s arrest.
In June, a hacker allegedly gained access to Arizona state election officials’ login information, according to the FBI. The breach was followed by what the local election officials believe to be a cyberattack on Illinois voter registration system in July.
