MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Following the attack in Idlib, S Department of State spokesperson John Kirby said that Washington had seen information that implicated Russia and Syria as being responsible for carrying out the attack. Russian Defense Ministry's spokesman Maj. Gen. Igor Konashenkov said that the investigation showed that the photos and video frames of the alleged airstrike on the school, published by some media, were fabricated.
On Thursday, Konashenkov announced that terrorists had attacked a school in western Aleppo with a mine and a gas cylinder. Three children were killed, while more than 10 were hospitalized with heavy wounds.
"The members of the Security Council condemned in the strongest terms the widely reported attacks on a school complex in Haas village, Idlib governorate, on October 26, which killed at least 22 children and teachers, and on a school in the western part of Aleppo on October 28, which killed a number of children, and called for impartial investigations," the statement read.
The council members recalled that all parties to the conflict were obliged to respect humanitarian law in all circumstances.
"They recalled, in particular, the obligation to distinguish between civilian populations and combatants and the prohibition against indiscriminate attacks and attacks against civilians and civilian objects … The members of the Security Council reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation, wherever, whenever and by whomsoever committed," the statement read.
