MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Moscow has officially informed the United States that limiting Russian diplomats access to US polling stations will meet a reciprocal response, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said Tuesday.
"The US administration's law enforcement officials stop at nothing to cut off Russian representatives from an opportunity to assess the provisions of holding the upcoming elections," Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.
The diplomat stressed that direct pressure applied on Russian diplomats by the FBI, as mentioned by foreign ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova in a Facebook post on Monday, was one of many similar incidents.
"We have drawn our conclusions from this and officially warned the US Embassy in Moscow a few days ago that the US should not count on the presence of US diplomats at elections that will be carried out in Russia," Ryabkov stated, adding that the warning has been issued in the form of a diplomatic note.
