WASHINGTON (Sputnik) – Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush congratulated in a statement on Wednesday President-elect Donald Trump on his victory in presidential election.
"Congratulations on your victory Donald Trump. As our President, Columba and I will pray for you in the days and months to come," Bush wrote in the message on Twitter.
Bush was one of the 17 candidates competing with Trump for the Republican Party presidential nomination. The two were fierce competitors during the primary election that differed substantively on most issues, and Bush said then he could not vote for Trump nor for his Democratic rival, Hillary Clinton, in the general election on November 8.
