On the same day that Donald Trump was elected, news emerged that Cuba has launched a five day period of nationwide military exercises; and, could Donald Trump’s victory boost the chances of French far-right politician Marine Le Pen?

On the same day that Donald Trump was elected as the next President of the United States of America, news has emerged that Cuba has launched a five day period of nationwide military exercises, prompting a great deal of speculation as to whether the two events are related. We speak to Antoni Kapcia, Professor of Latin American History, University of Nottingham and Par Kumaraswami, an Associate Professor in Latin American Cultural studies at the University of Reading.

We speak to James Shields, Professor of French Politics at Aston University about what this might mean for France.
