BEIJING (Sputnik) — The Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) should play a central and coordinating role in the development of the Asia-Pacific region, Russian Ambassador to China Andrey Denisov said on Friday.
"I am convinced that the APEC forum should play a central and coordinating role in this area as the most prestigious and influential economic union in the Asia-Pacific region, aimed at taking joint steps in the interest of building a dynamic and prosperous regional community," Denisov told the Xinhua news agency.
According to the ambassador, Moscow’s priority in its relations with the countries of the Asia-Pacific region is cooperation in trade and investment areas.
An APEC summit is set to be held on November 19-20 in Lima, Peru.
