MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Christie was in charge of the transition for the last several months but Trump's surprise victory prompted him to use Pence's more extensive Washington experience, The New York Times newspaper reported.
The sources added that Christie, along with Rudolph Giuliani, the former mayor of New York, and Michael Flynn, a retired lieutenant general, will also take significant part in the transition.
Earlier in the day, Trump said that he would "soon" decide on the members of his administration.
On Tuesday, Trump secured at least 290 Electoral College votes, which is more than 270 required to win the presidency.
