MOSCOW (Sputnik) — French President Francois Hollande emphasized the importance of building partnership with Russia based on shared interests.
"We have to be partners [with Russia] in the spheres where we have common interests," Hollande said Tuesday in Morocco in an interview to RFI, France 24 and TV5MONDE.
Hollande cited searching for the solution of a conflict in Syria, fight against terrorism and ensuring that the Minsk accords on Ukraine are honored as examples of those common interests.
The French president added that the US President-elect Donald Trump was right in his intention to talk to Putin, but stressed that it would not be a great change as Trump's predecessor Barack Obama also spoke to the Russian president.
