TEL AVIV (Sputnik) — Israel was one of the first countries to set up communications with Russia in an effort to prevent accidents and dangerous incidents throughout Russia's counter-terrorist aerial campaign in Syria.
“We are in close contact with Russia. I have met with Putin four times in the past year in order to enhance ties and so that there will not be a confrontation between the IDF and the Russian military that nobody wants; as of now there haven't been any and we hope that there will not be,” Netanyahu was quoted as saying by the his office.
In November, Russian ambassador to Israel Alexander Shein said told RIA Novosti that Syrian crisis did not change the friendly relations maintained between the Russian and Israeli armed forces, as no incidents occurred that could undermine these relations.
