The Russian Foreign Ministry slammed the Kiev-proposed UN draft resolution on the human rights situation in Crimea as being "far from reality".

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Moscow considers the UN draft resolution on the human rights situation in Crimea to be politically motivated, Director of the Foreign Ministry Department for Humanitarian Cooperation and Human Rights Anatoly Viktorov said Wednesday.

"Political, put-up character of this far from reality draft project is evident for us. It is not a secret that Ukraine’s sponsors bring an unprecedented pressure on the countries," Viktorov said at the United Nations.

Viktorov noted that the draft resolution on the human rights situation in Crimea was another example of using human rights issue in political games by the countries, initiating resolutions, and added this draft had nothing to do with the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly.

"No doubt, the issue of promotion and protection of human rights is important for all the countries. We will seek to consecutively ensure human rights throughout the territory of Russia, including Crimea, in accordance with our international obligations. However, we would never be engaged in the discussion forcefully and accept the moralistic tone," Viktorov said.
