RIGA (Sputnik) — The National Armed Forces (NAF), civil guards, border guards, police officers and firefighters participated in the parade that took place on the embankment of the Western Dvina (Daugava in Latvian) river.
Foreign servicemen from the NATO member states deployed at the Baltic nation took part in the event.
During the parade, the troops had been reviewed by country's President Raimonds Vejonis, who had thanked NATO soldiers for protection of the country.
Latvia celebrates Independence Day on November 18, commemorating the declaration of the country’s independence in 1918 after the end of World War I.
