MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Pakistan Navy on Friday detected India's submarines heading toward the Pakistani territorial waters and prevented them from crossing the maritime boundary, the Navy said in a statement.
"The Indian Navy, in order to fulfill its nefarious designs, was deploying submarines. The Pakistan Navy, alert and using its extreme skill, prevented Indian submarines from entering Pakistani waters," the statement said, as quoted by the Dawn newspaper.
In recent months, the relations between Islamabad and New Delhi have significantly deteriorated, following the deadly attack of the Indian base in the town of Uri by a group of militants, who entered the country from Pakistan. The tensions have resulted in the escalation of violence at the Indian-Pakistani border and several diplomatic demarches between the two nations.
