AmCham: Peru Sets Example of Poverty Eradication by Trade During APEC Presidency

Peru is hosting the APEC summit for the second time. Previously it presided over the international forum in 2008.

"This is the second time that Peru hosts APEC, even though there are many other edonomies, still Peru was appointed. It's very important for us," Defilippi told Sputnik.

The APEC CEO Summit has been underway in Peru's capital Lima since Monday, bringing together 21 Pacific Rim economies, including Russia and the United States. The event is scheduled to culminate with the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting on November 18-19.

APEC was established in 1989 to promote free trade throughout the Asia-Pacific region.

The American Chamber of Commerce of Peru (AmCham) seeks to promote a free market system, trade and investment exchange between the United States and Peru.
