UNITED NATIONS (Sputnik) – The draft received the support of 131 states on Thursday. The United States, Ukraine and Palau voted against the draft. Canada was among the 48 countries that abstained, while last year Canada voted against such a draft.

Russia proposes the draft each year. This year, over 50 countries were co-authors of the draft resolution.

The document expresses concern over the rise of contemporary forms of racism, racial discrimination and xenophobia and calls for specific measures in various spheres, including education, in order to prevent the spread of such crimes.
