Republican National Chairman Reince Priebus was selected to serve as his Chief of Staff, while former Breitbart executive chairman and CEO of Trump’s campaign Stephen K. Bannon became his Chief Strategist. Opponents were quick to criticize Priebus as being part of the same establishment that Trump pledged to shake up and dismantle, while others alleged that Bannon is a “racist” and “anti-Semite” who shouldn’t be allowed anywhere near the President.
Protesters, many of whom had already taken to the streets right after Trump’s victory last week, were emboldened by these controversial picks and even turned some of their raucous demonstrations into full-fledged riots. The media’s war on Trump hasn’t ceased since he won the election, and the President-elect even took to Twitter to air out his frustrations that “professional protesters, incited by the media, are protesting. Very unfair!”
