WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — Nearly 1,100 donations made to the Trump campaign were in violation of campaign finance laws.
"This notice requests information essential to full public disclosure of your federal election campaign finances," the letter sent on Sunday stated. "Failure to adequately respond by the response date noted above could result in an audit or enforcement action."
The letter includes a list of groups that donated to the Trump campaign without registering properly with the FEC.
Another list in the letter contains the names of individuals who gave more than they were legally allowed.
