MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Spiegel magazine, three German citizens of Syrian origin from Bavaria, Berlin and Lower Saxony are suspected of financing the militants and supplying them with equipment.
The detainees will reportedly face trial on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ahrar ash-Sham, a jihadist group outlawed in Russia, seeks to establish Daesh in Syria. According to various estimates, up to 20,000 fighters take part in its military operations against the Syrian government.
