WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — BAE Systems will support the installation and completion of the ships’ combat systems and perform post-construction work on the hull as well as mechanical and electrical equipment, Monday's release stated.
Work is also slated for the ships’ gun systems, which will be capable of delivering ordnance against a variety of targets, and the MK 57 vertical launch systems, BAE explained.
The contract has a maximum value of $193 million for work through September 2021.
Earlier this month, the Navy announced it couldn't afford to pay $800,000 for each Long Range Land-Attack Projectile precision munition considered critical to the Zumwalt's mission.
