Those rallying near the Kensington Palace Gardens embassy building stressed that Moscow's campaign is lawful and essential for fighting the terrorist threat in Syria, the United Kingdom and across the world.
The rally proceeded peacefully, the street remained open to traffic and public order was maintained.
Numerous armed groups, including terrorists such as Daesh and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, formerly known as al-Nusra Front, both outlawed in Russia, as well as opposition factions, have been fighting against the Syrian government for over five years.
Russia became involved in an anti-terrorist aerial campaign in Syria in 2015 after a request from the Syrian government. The US-led coalition has been conducting a similar campaign since 2014 without Damascus' consent. The United Kingdom joined the coalition in late 2015 after the parliament backed the country's involvement.
