Yokohama police arrested Shogo Takeda, 24, on suspicion of theft after he stole the wallet of the company president who was interviewing him for a job, Japanese daily Asahi Shimbun reported on Monday.
According to the police, on November 10 the young man came to a machinery maintenance company in Yokohama for a job interview. The interview was carried out by company director. During the interview the director had to leave for a shot time to give instruction to the stuff.
At the end of the workday, the director noticed that his wallet was missing and called the police. The suspicion fell on the job applicant who had been left alone in the office where the director’s bag with the wallet was.
It was easy to identify and find the suspect as it turned out that he had left his real phone number and address on the resume he had submitted when he applied. Later, he explained that he really wanted to get the job.
Takeda has admitted to stealing 50,000 yen (US$450). “I am unemployed, that’s why I need money.”
