WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The half-day event will showcase technological breakthroughs that have enabled the United States and its international partners to monitor for illicit nuclear explosions and verify compliance to global nonproliferation agreements.
"The Department of State, in partnership with the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA), will host ‘Nuclear Explosion Monitoring: 60 Years of Science and Innovation,’ on November 30, 2016," the release stated.
Featured speakers will include Energy Secretary Ernest Moniz, Acting Under Secretary of State for Arms Control Tom Countryman, Defense Department experts, lawmakers and other senior government officials.
