WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at a record-high of 19,152, after gaining almost 70 points, or 0.36 percent, on the shortened trading day.
The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index rose 0.39 percent to reach a record of 2,213 while the Nasdaq Composite Index rose 0.3 percent, closing at a new high of 5,399.
Stocks closed at 1 p.m. EST due to the holiday week in the United States.
The Dow has increased nearly 4 percent since Election Day and, according to the Wall Street Journal, is on track to post a stronger yearly performance than the S&P 500 for the first time since 2011.
