MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the Sky News Arabia broadcaster, the authorities of Kuwait told the UN Special Envoy for Yemen Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed that they would host the parties to the Yemeni conflict in case they intend to sign a treaty but not to hold negotiations.
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry stressed that Ahmed's visit to Kuwait did not indicate to resumption of the negotiations related to the inter-Yemeni peace talks, according to the broadcaster.
On Sunday, Ahmed said in Oman that he was working on another round of peace talks, adding that parties to the conflict should eventually sign the agreement after seven or ten days of talks, according to media reports.
The situation in Yemen remains extremely unstable since the start of a military conflict between the government headed by Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and Houthi rebels, which are the country’s main opposition force, in 2014.
The last round of peace talks, which took place in Kuwait in August, has failed. The delegation of Houthi rebels has been stuck since then in Oman after the Saudi-led coalition blocked the aircraft with the Houthi delegation trying to return to Yemen.
