WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — President-elect Donald Trump may add more names to the list of candidates he is considering for the position secretary of state, Vice President-elect Mike Pence said in an interview on Tuesday.
"The role of secretary of state, the person that's going to be representing the administration and representing the president overseas and with countries around the world is a unique role," Pence stated in an interview on MSNBC. "We have more names that may well be added to the list."
Pence added that Trump is "taking his time" to select the perfect person for the job.
On Thursday, a spokesperson for Trump's transition team said the list of candidates was narrowed down to four names.
In an interview on Friday, top Trump aide Kellyanne Conway revealed the names on the list were former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani, retired Gen. David Petraeus and US Senator Bob Corker of Tennessee.
According to media reports, Trump is expected to meet with Exxon Mobile CEO Rex Tillerson on Tuesday, who has been added to the candidate list for secretary of state.
