Italy's Prime Minister-Designate Gentiloni Forms New Government Cabinet
In 2011-2013, Alfano served as secretary of Silvio Berlusconi’s People of Freedom party, while in April 2013 he was appointed Italy's interior minister.

Earlier in the day, Gentiloni submitted to President Sergio Mattarella a list of ministers to form the new cabinet. The swearing-in ceremony is set to be held at 19:00 GMT at the Quirinal Palace.

On Wednesday, Prime Minister Matteo Renzi stepped down after his constitutional reform proposals were rejected by Italians in a referendum, which was largely seen as an opportunity for the nation to express its dissatisfaction with the government. The "no" campaign was led by anti-establishment and Euroskeptic opposition parties.
