"We are not fighting a Cold War anymore. We must move beyond that and realize who our real enemies are," Nuttall said in an interview with the RT news channel.
He said US President-elect Donald Trump did the right thing when he proposed a dialogue with Russia in order to fight the Daesh terror group, outlawed in both the United Sates and Russia, as well as in a number of other countries across the globe.
"We do have to work with Russia and I think Donald Trump is moving in the right direction. We have to build a global coalition against Islamic fundamentalism," Nuttall said.
Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Ryabkov said on Monday his country was "sleeves rolled up" and ready to cooperate with Trump’s administration on anti-terrorism. Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said earlier in the day Russia wanted a clear picture of how this joint work would go.
