Syria Should Beware of Regional States Even After Liberation of Aleppo
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – He pointed out that China was ready to work with the international community in order to achieve political solution of the conflict.

"Given the complexity and sensitivity of current circumstances, it is all the more important for the international community to stay on the course without wavering towards our overarching goal – to seek a political settlement," Wu said on Tuesday at the UN Security Council, as quoted by the Xinhua news agency.

“Any effort by the international community should be conducive to the work on all four tracks, namely resumption of ceasefire, political talks, joint counter-terrorism and humanitarian assistance,” the diplomat said.

Wu also expressed his concern about current humanitarian situation in Syria.

“China remains deeply concerned with the situation in some parts of Syria including Aleppo and expresses our profound sympathy for the Syrian people who have suffered abysmal misery brought on by the Syrian conflict,” he said.

Syria has been in a state of civil war since 2011, with government forces fighting Syrian opposition groups striving to overthrow the president. Damascus is also fighting numerous extremist and terrorist groups such as the Jabhat Fatah al Sham and the Islamic State, both outlawed in Russia. According to the United Nations, at least 300,000 Syrians have died since the beginning of the conflict.
