"Despite the liberation of Aleppo, we still have to beware of the regional forces, which finance terrorists under the guise of the opposition. These forces are still trying to convince everybody that there has been a moderate opposition in Aleppo," Abboud said Tuesday.
Abboud noted that the situation in Aleppo was "fundamentally different from the situation in Raqqa, Palmyra, Mosul and the whole Iraq."
According to the official, some regional states are trying present militants in Aleppo as an official political force.
"Our victory in Aleppo means failure of the puppeteers," Abboud said.
Over the recent months, Aleppo became a major battleground in Syria between government forces and militants. On Tuesday, the Russian reconciliation center said that the Syrian government army was controlling over 98 percent of the territory of Aleppo, with militants present in less than 3 square kilometers (1.1 square mile).
