Evacuation of 5,000 Militants, Families Begins in Eastern Aleppo
10:49 GMT 15.12.2016 (Updated: 10:58 GMT 15.12.2016) The evacuation of 5,000 militants and their families have begun in eastern Aleppo, the chief of the Russian Armed Forces General Staff, First Deputy Defense Minister Gen. Valery Gerasimov said Thursday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — He added that 20 buses and 10 ambulance vehicles are being used in the evacuation in addition to over 100 vehicles belonging to militants.
"Following the order of the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, President Vladimir Putin, the evacuation of 5,000 militants and members of their families from the eastern districts of Aleppo has begun today," Gerasimov said.
Earlier in the day, a convoy of buses started moving toward eastern Aleppo to evacuate civilians.
