WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — According to the study, two thirds of surveyed cities had rates of homelessness higher than the national rate of homelessness.
The rate of homelessness in cities studied is higher than the national rate at 50.9 people experiencing homelessness per 10,000 in the general population, the study said.
The study noted, however, that while DC’s homeless rate was high it had the lowest percentage of unsheltered homeless at 3.9 percent.
According to its website, the US Conference of Mayors, an official nonpartisan organization of cities with populations of 30,000 or more, has reported on homelessness since 1982.
