MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Moscow is calling on UN structures to immediately join efforts to provide humanitarian aid to Syrians, Russia's Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday.
"We are urging relevant UN humanitarian structures to actively and immediately engage in the provision of the much needed humanitarian assistance to Syrians, in particular, the residents of Aleppo, liberated from gangs of terrorists and extremists," the statement said.
"We consider it a completely unacceptable situation when some senior members of the Secretariat of the United Nations are part of a propaganda campaign launched by some Western countries aimed at discrediting the anti-terrorist efforts of the Syrian authorities and the Russian Aerospace Forces."
Moscow added that some UN officials "circulate unverified information, and sometimes outright fakes" concerning the situation in Syria.
