It is regrettable that some western politicians and special services use the alleged "Russian threat" to scare their own people, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Earlier this month, Alex Younger, the head of the UK Secret Intelligence Service (MI6) said that hostile states like Russia posed a threat to Europe.

"It is more convenient for Younger to scare his own people with the ‘Russian threat’ and ‘hybrid warfare’ than counter terrorists and extremists. It is regrettable that some western special forces and politicians chose this path," the ministry said in a statement.
