LONDON (Sputnik) — According to the Sky News outlet, inmates took over several wings of the prison, including a gym and security equipment store after threatening the officer with a used syringe and taking his keys.
Some prisoners reportedly claimed that the unrest started because they were unable to go to the gym and watch television, while the others complained about prison food and lack of hot water in the showers, the media outlet said.
Extra police officers and dog units were deployed at the scene, according to the media outlet.
On November 6, the unrest involving up to 200 inmates occurred at the prison in the eastern city of Bedford.
