MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The party office in Istanbul was attacked by a group of 30-40 people who broke the door, windows and started a fire, Kurdish media network Rudaw reported. The other attacked premises are located in Ankara, Izmir, Canakkale, Hatay, and Erzincan.
On Monday, Turkish media reported that the police arrested 118 HDP activists as part of the anti-terrorist operation in the wake of the Istanbul attacks of December 11 which left at least 44 people, mostly police officers, and injured about 150 people.
Tensions between Ankara and Turkish Kurds escalated in July 2015 when a ceasefire between Turkey and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) collapsed over a series of terrorist attacks, allegedly committed by PKK members.
