WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In a series of Twitter messages last week, Trump said he would leave his businesses before being inaugurated on January 20, and put his sons Don and Eric in charge. Trump added that no new deals will be done while he is in office.
"We’ve never seen this kind of wealth in the White House and so traditional rules don’t work," Gingrich stated on NPR's The Diane Rehm Show. "We’re going to have to think up a whole new approach."
"He could simply say, Look, I want them to be my advisers. I pardon them if anyone finds them to have behaved against the rules. Period. Technically, under the Constitution he has that level of authority," Gingrich noted.
Trump canceled a news conference scheduled for December 15 at which he was to describe how his companies will be run once he is inaugurated.
