New Delhi (Sputnik) – The Indian Coast Guard has detained 26 Pakistanis nationals who allegedly entered Indian waters using rubber boats. These Pakistanis were approaching the Indian western coast with five rubber inflatable boats when the Coast Guard intercepted them barely 12 nautical miles off Gujarat coast.
Defense sources said joint interrogation is taking place at Jakhau in Gujarat. Indian agencies were taken aback by such a large number of Pakistanis using rubber boats instead of wooden boats.
Last month, Pakistani agencies had arrested 43 Indian fishermen for allegedly entering Pakistani territorial waters in the Arabian Sea.
The Indian Government had informed Parliament that there are 516 Indian fishermen (or believed to be Indian nationals) currently in the custody of Pakistani authorities while 37 Pakistani fishermen are in Indian jails.
