NEW YORK (Sputnik) — New York City is not affected by a specific terrorist threat as the Holiday season approaches, the city’s Police Department Deputy Commissioner John Miller stated on Tuesday.
"We don’t see any specific credible threat either going toward the holiday season," Deputy Commissioner Miller said on CBS This Morning. "We have made a lot of adjustments based on these kind of attacks."
Also on Tuesday, Miller said in a separate interview on MSNBC that modern day terrorist attacks have become much less sophisticated, and as a result, take far less time to execute.
"You see a terrorist paradigm that is now not directed at toppling towers or destroying buildings, but at achieving maximum lethality with attacks that are low-tech, low-cost and high-impact," Miller explained.
New York police has boosted security presence in high-profile locations around the city in response to Monday’s terrorist attack on a Christmas market in Berlin.
More than 500 counterterrorism officers have been deployed to patrol the streets of New York, Miller noted.
