MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Tuesday, the Hill newspaper reported that the two leaders had a second, undisclosed meeting on the sidelines of the G20 Summit. The meeting took place during the G20 heads of state dinner and lasted for roughly an hour, Ian Bremmer, the president of the international consulting firm Eurasia Group, told the newspaper.
"Of course, the use of such a term as some kind of 'secret' or 'classified' meeting, this only causes absolute surprise and misunderstanding, because there was an official bilateral meeting of presidents Putin and Trump agreed in advance through diplomatic channels. And then on the sidelines of the visit, they repeatedly exchanged some opinions, they exchanged phrases, that is, it was communication going on for several days. There were no classified meetings, secret meetings, and it's absolutely absurd to assert this. Indeed, they had an opportunity to speak during lunch, in fact, they continued some exchange on those topics that were discussed at the bilateral meeting," Peskov told Chanel One broadcaster.
During the July 7 meeting, Putin and Trump discussed numerous issues, including conflicts in Syria and Ukraine, cybersecurity and the fight against terrorism. The two leaders also agreed to implement a regional ceasefire in southern Syria.
