BEIRUT (Sputnik) — The militants of the Nusra Front terrorist group (banned in Russia) have begun to surrender in the mountainous region of Aarsal at the Lebanese-Syrian border, a source in Hezbollah movement told Sputnik on Saturday.
"Big units of Jabhat al-Nusra [Nusra Front] raised six white flags… in mountainous region of Aarsal, showing thus, that they were surrendering," the source said.
Earlier in the day, Hezbollah carried out a rocket strike on the supply lines of the group and managed to take control of four more areas bordering Syria in the area south of Aarsal.
The hard-to-reach mountainous region of Aarsal is considered the most tense place at the Lebanese-Syrian border. It has been used for arms smuggling and transit of new terrorist recruits to Syria. It also houses several camps for thousands of Syrian refugees.
