MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US journalist Kurt Eichenwald bickered with WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange after the latter noticed that the writer removed Newsweek from his Twitter bio, shortly after reaching a settlement on a libel lawsuit in favor of former Sputnik news agency editor Bill Moran.
"Has Newsweek fired its 'senior writer' @KurtEichenwald after libel complaint? Bio changed to remove 'Newsweek'," Assange wrote on his twitter on Sunday.

Eichenwald called Assange a rapist, an evident reference to the Swedish authorities' rape investigation against Assange that was dropped in May. The journalist also posted a series of Tweets calling the RT broadcaster and Sputnik news agency Assange's "best buddies."
"Many CIA linked 'journalists' believe that they can libel me and others with impunity. Wrong. WikiLeaks has resources and reach," the WikiLeaks founder replied.

On October 10, 2016, Moran wrote an article mistakenly attributing Eichenwald's thoughts on the 2012 attack on the US embassy in Benghazi to Clinton's aide. The same mistake was made by then-US Republican party presidential nominee Donald Trump, which led Eichenwald to the conclusion that the Republican candidate was repeating after Russian "propaganda" despite the evidence pointing to the fact that it was a simple coincidence.
