MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US businesses in Russia see the new sanctions targeting Russia's defense, intelligence, mining, shipping and railway industries in addition to restricting dealings with Russian banks and energy companies as a mistake, the president and CEO of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia (AmCham) told Sputnik.
"We always believed and believe that this is primarily a mistake. If you read US newspapers, you will see that basically the motives given for the passage of this law are related to the president himself and less so to Russia," Alexis Rodzianko said Wednesday.
The US House of Representatives approved by a 419-3 vote on Tuesday a new version of a bill that would impose sweeping sanctions on Russia, Iran and North Korea, and limit US President Donald Trump’s ability to lift the restrictions on Moscow.
