WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — US Transportation Command (TRANSCOM) has issued 12 contracts worth $853 million to finance the flow of supplies by sea to US military installations around the world over the next year, the Department of Defense said in a press release.
"American President Lines [of] Scottsdale, Arizona is being awarded an estimated $230,749,372… modification [contract] for international ocean and intermodal distribution services," the release said on Tuesday.
The Maersk Line of Norfolk, Virginia received an estimated $204,458,639 modification contract also for international ocean and intermodal distribution services, another release said.
Matson Navigation Co, Hapag-Lloyd USA, American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier, Farrell Lines, Liberty Global Logistics, TOTE Maritime Alaska, Central Gulf Lines and TransAtlantic Lines, TOTE Maritime Puerto Rico and Young Brothers also won contracts, the Defense Department said.
