AARSAL (Sputnik) — Terrorists of the Jabhat Fatah al Sham (formerly known as Nusra Front, outlawed in Russia) will release five Lebanese Hezbollah fighters kept in captivity in the Aarsal region on the Syrian border, a Hezbollah source told Sputnik on Thursday.
"The ceasefire agreement between Hezbollah and the Nusra Front includes the release of five fighters that were kept hostage by the Nusra Front," the source said.
Earlier in the day, Hezbollah declared an armistice in the Lebanon's north-eastern region of Aarsal, in force starting from 06:00 a.m. local time (03:00 GMT).
On July 21, Hezbollah announced the start of a military operation against the Nusra Front in the remote Aarsal region, which is considered the most tense on the Lebanese-Syrian border. The region has been used for arms smuggling and transit of terrorist recruits to Syria. It also houses several camps for thousands of Syrian refugees.
