"I don't have many details [on the agreement]… As for now, a great agreement has been settled… I know that people are packing in Wadi Hmeid [where a refugee camp is located]… According to the agreement, all the militants have to leave the mountainous region of Aarsal," Karnabi said.
On Thursday, a Hezbollah source informed Sputnik that under the agreement, the Nusra Front would have to release five Hezbollah fighters that the terrorist group kept hostage.
In six days, Hezbollah managed to free 90 square kilometers (34.7 square miles) of the Aarsal region from Jabhat Fatah al Sham militants by engaging in an offensive operation from Lebanon and Syria simultaneously.
The remote mountainous region of Aarsal is considered the most tense place on the Lebanese-Syrian border. It has been used for arms smuggling and transit of new terrorist recruits to Syria. It also houses several camps for thousands of Syrian refugees.
