BEIJING (Sputnik) — Brazil, India, China and South Africa should join the Russia-led International Counterterrorism Database as part of the BRICS group of nations, Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev said Friday.
"We invite all BRICS countries to also join the International Counterterrorism Database created by the Russian [Federal Security Service] FSB," Patrushev said at the member states' national security high representatives' meeting in Beijing.
The database has been able to collect "consolidated array of information" on individuals involved in terrorist activities and in terrorist and extremist groups thanks to the participation of 33 foreign special services, he underscored.
BRICS is an association of five developing economies — Russia, China, Brazil, India and South Africa — which comprises over one third of the world’s population.
