Over 160 passengers, including 11 children, were on board. The airplane landed on an aerodrome in Minsk to refuel and contact the Russian authorities regarding further actions. After that, Rogozin returned to Moscow.
Rogozin said that Russia would find out who was behind the decision to ban a Russian plane flying over the territory of Romania aboard which he was.
"We will accurately identify who was behind these decisions in Chisinau, Bucharest, Budapest, Brussels… Our sanctions will be appropriate and very targeted," Rogozin told the Rossiya 24 broadcaster.
The Russian Foreign Ministry on Friday expressed strong protest to Romania in connection with the ban by Bucharest authorities on the entry of a passenger plane carrying Rogozin into Romanian airspace.
On Wednesday, Moldovan President Igor Dodon said that Rogozin had confirmed his plans to visit Moldova despite proposals of country's authorities to cancel the visit as the delegation had reportedly planned to arrive in the European nation using the aircraft of Russia's Aerospace Forces.
Dodon criticized his government over the possible cancellation of Rogozin's visit as an unfriendly move.
The incident with Rogozin's flight to Moldova was not the only one involving Russian citizens that took place during the week. On Thursday, Moldovan authorities banned a group of Russians, including those heading to Transnistria to participate in the celebrations of the 25th anniversary of the peacekeeping mission in the region, from visiting the country.
