ALABINO RANGE (Moscow Region) (Sputnik) — Russia continues to be leading among the participants of the International Army Games 2017 after the six days of the games, the Games’ chief judge, Maj. Gen. Dmitry Gorbatenko, said Friday.
"According to the results of the first six days of the International Army Games 2017, the preliminary overall rating of participating states reads as follows — Russia holds the first place, China ranks second and Kazakhstan ranks third," he said.
According to Gorbatenko, the opening ceremonies of two more contests — "Road Patrol" and "Maintenance Battalion" — were scheduled for Saturday, while "Masters of Armored Vehicles" and "Engineering Formula" competitions would close on Friday. The chief judge also noted that the contests within 16 competitions, including six competitions held in the foreign states, were completed on Thursday.
The closing ceremonies for "Masters of Armored Vehicles" and "Engineering Formula" are scheduled for Friday. Later in the day, two races of second and third crews will be held within "Tank Biathlon" contest. Besides, the first stages of "Tank Biathlon," "Suvorov Attack," "Depth," "Elbrus Ring," "Military Medical Relay Race," "Sniper Frontier" and "Cup of Sea" will also be held on Friday.
At the moment, the participants of "Seaborne Assault," "Drone Competition," "Field Kitchen," "Sea Cup," "Airborne Platoon," "Masters of Artillery Fire" competitions are going through the second stage of the contests. Besides, the third stage of "Guardian of Order" competition and the forth stage of "Army Scout Masters" and "Warrior of Commonwealth" competitions are underway.
The International Army Games have been held annually since 2015 on the initiative of the Russian defense minister. This year, 28 special contests are held within the Games at miscellaneous locations in Azerbaijan, Belarus, China, Kazakhstan and Russia on July 29 — August 12.
